Welcome to Year 4
In Year 4 there are two classes, Bluff and Daymer Bay
The teachers and staff in year 4 this year are:
Bluff – Mr Bagley, Miss Burnett, Mrs Julian, Mrs Rankine and Mr Szymanek
Daymer Bay - Miss Hilbery and Miss Wall, Mrs Pascoe and Miss Reid
Our topic this term will be Rotten Romans. We will be learning about the life of a Roman Soldier in Britain, Roman Children, Roman Houses and much more!
Here are some links for more information about the Romans:
In our science work we will be investigating which materials conduct or insulate electricity and how switches work. Later on in the term we will be investigating sound – how it’s made, how it travels and how to stop it travelling!
PE – This will be on a Wednesday in both classes. Daymer Bay will also have PE on a Monday and Bluff will have their second session on a Friday. Please ensure that PE kit is in school every day as you never know when an unexpected games session might happen!

What can I do at home?
RM Easimaths - this is a service paid for by the school which provides games for the children to play using their maths skills. Children need to log in using their school credentials and the code 3milestone. It is also available as a free app for iPad and iPhone.
Purple Mash - this is a large package of web based software with various activities from art to programming. We would particularly recommend the children take some time to explore the Serial Mash section which contains loads of online books complete with comprehension activities. Again, children should log in with their school credentials.
Primary Games Arena - lots of spelling games
