Threemilestone School has a comprehensive programme of residential trips which children from Years 2 to 6 can gain access to. The camp programme is progressive to suit the age groups that they are targetted at and are designed to help children to grow in confidence as they progress through the school.
Year 2 'Sleeping with Sharks'
Sleeping in the Plymouth aquarium, the children spend two days and one night on this trip. Taking in either the Eden Project or Dartmoor Zoo, Pizza Hut, a movie and educational activities in the aquarium and then ice skating on the way home.
Year 3 Camp
In 2018 Year 3 will be given the opportunity to experience the Sleeping with Sharks (see above) trip as they didn't get this opportunity in Year 2. From 2019 onwards the Year 3 residential trip will be sleeping in tents in a designated Cornwall Council owned and run campsite the children spend two days and one night at the camp. They take part in various outdoor activities including woodland walks, forest art, woodcraft and den building and many more. This year the camp was at Nine Ashes Camp near Bodmin. This camp costs around £60 per child.
Year 4 Camp
This is held at the Delaware Outdoor Education facility near Bodmin. The children stay two nights and three days. They take part in activities such as archery, orienteering, climbing and abseiling, kayaking, sailing and a beach trip. This camp costs in the region of £160
Year 5 Camp
In Years 5 they get the opportunity to go to Porthpean camp. This is a two night three day trip, where the children sleep under canvas and take part in activities such as kayaking, mountain biking, climbing, orienteering, problem solving. This camp costs in the region of £285.
In 2018 Year 6 will be given the opportunity go to Porthpean camp, since they had the opportunity to go to London last year, However from 2019 Year 6's residential exprience will be a trip to London , which is a 3 night 4 day trip to see everything that the capital city of England can offer. This is a very busy trip, which fills up very quickly. This costs in the region of £285.
These camps can only take place with the help of willing members of staff and Governors who give up their time (and energy) to provide the children with some really life changing experiences. Our grateful thanks goes to those adults.
